Congratulations to Associate Aaminah Woods on Her Recent Trial Victory!
On October 16, 2025, Associate Aaminah Woods secured a trial victory before the District Court of Maryland for Prince George’s County. The Plaintiffs in this matter, a driver and a passenger, filed suit seeking compensation for injuries suffered following a very serious motor vehicle accident in Suitland, Maryland. The Plaintiffs alleged that the Defendant failed to drive on the right side of the road, causing the head-on collision with the Plaintiffs’ vehicle. Subsequently, Ms. Woods filed a counter complaint against the Plaintiff-driver for indemnification and contribution.
This matter proceeded as a liability dispute, and, thus, the trial was bifurcated. The main goal at trial was to demonstrate to the Court that the Defendant operated his vehicle on the correct side of the road and but for the Plaintiff driver’s actions, no accident would have occurred. During trial, although there was some very unfavorable evidence presented against the Defendant, Ms. Woods made efforts to show the Court that her client’s actions were, nonetheless, not the cause of the subject accident. Rather, Ms. Woods was able to assert that it was the Plaintiff-driver’s actions that were negligent, unnecessary, and avoidable.
By using that same evidence that was unfavorable to her client, Ms. Woods was able to cast doubt upon the Plaintiff driver’s actions, which the Court ultimately deemed to be the sole and proximate cause of the motor vehicle accident in question. In the end, the Court entered a liability judgment against the Plaintiff-driver and for the Defendant.
This win highlights how efficiently preparing a case and being knowledgeable about the law, combined with a careful analysis of evidence, can lead to a successful outcome for the defense, even when faced with unfavorable evidence.
Congratulations Aaminah!
